Pre-entry franchise education surpasses 500

Written on the 25th of August 2010 by Fiona Taylor

Nearly 600 people have now registered for the Centre’s free pre-entry franchise education program, sponsored by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Launched July 1 this year, the program is continuing to attract interest from prospective franchisees, franchisors considering introducing it into franchisee recruitment processes, and by consultants and head office professionals alike.

Adelaide-based prospective franchisee Greg Stewart said the free pre-entry franchise education program was tremendously useful.

“The pre-entry franchise education program is very useful and informative,” Greg said.

“There’s a lot of information, but you get through it quite quickly. It gives a fast track to the information you need and so is invaluable from that point of view.

“I also think the program is relevant for buying any business, not just a franchise. I purchased a business previously, which wasn’t a franchise, and if I’d had access to this program then, I would have done it better.”

The Centre is also receiving increasing interest from franchisors incorporating the program into their franchisee selection processes, and one franchise consultancy, Corven, has been independently reviewing the program on Twitter.

Corven (on Twitter) said the program had solid content and it was easy to engage with the material.

“What had to potential to be too academic, [the module] is digestible and informative. In our opinion, it is a good example of responsible pre-entry education for prospective franchisees,” Corven said.

Corven also made a suggestion about having personalised Certificates of Completion, which was already underdevelopment and should go live next month.

Centre Director Professor Lorelle Frazer said it was great to receive so much positive feedback.

“We’ll be continuing to improve the program, so anyone with suggestions or feedback please contact us and let us know.”
