Australia has been coined the ‘franchise capital of the world’ because it has over three times the number of franchise systems per capita than the United States. The Australian franchising sector is described by BRW as ‘booming’ and in 2006 franchising was found to contribute $128 billion dollars to the Australian economy. Australia naturally has some strength within the Asia-Pacific region and within Australia Griffith University has considerable academic expertise with a core team of experts in franchising.
So it makes sense that it’s Griffith University that has developed the Asia-Pacific Centre for Franchising Excellence, now located within the Griffith Business School.
The purpose of the centre is to produce leading edge applied research that furthers knowledge and thinking on franchising, and to provide relevant degree and non-degree courses that provide the franchising sector with skills in demand.
The Centre is led by Professor Lorelle Frazer and Dr Scott Weaven with several other leading Griffith academics who are involved in research and teaching. The Centre operates with close ties to industry and Government within Australia and across the Asia-Pacific region, seeking input by major industry players to ensure that the needs of industry are considered in the services of the Centre.
Professor Frazer would like to invite you to submit your suggestions for what you’d like to see covered by the Centre in terms of research and education.
Your feedback will help ensure The Asia-Pacific Centre for Franchising Excellence becomes the leader in franchising research and education. Post your suggestions here, or if you’d like to email Professor Frazer directly, send your emails to: L.Frazer@griffith.edu.au
