Yes the franchising course is still open for enrolments, yes there’s lots of industry involvement, yes you’ll learn a lot of stuff you’ll be able to apply at work straight away, yes the content is in tune with the latest best practice – I was finalising it yesterday (that’s how up-to-date).
I’ve received so many phone calls the last few days asking if enrolments are still open for Semester Two for the Franchising Specialist Course and the Graduate Certificate in Franchising. As everyone asks the same questions I thought it would help to answer them here.
Before I do though, I just want to say it’s great to see a number of people who have been considering studying the course for a number of years actually take action for their careers/business this year and enrol – I’m really looking forward to having them on board as they’ll add a lot to the discussions.
We even have two franchising consultants from New Zealand enrolling in the class and they are travelling over for the first session.
Now, Q&A time…
There is still time to enrol, but you need to act quickly as classes commence next week.
If you have a good excuse we might squeeze you in, in week two or at an absolute stretch week three, but we really do recommend you start on time. (The course starts with a really valuable two-day intensive, which I highly recommend you get to).
A number of industry speakers are locked in to deliver guest lectures and one of the highlights is a field trip to McDonald’s Head Office in Brisbane.
We will also visit Cold Rock’s top performing franchisee, Karl Lipscombe, to learn how he has become so successful.
Franchise sector celebrity, ex-Eagle Boys Franchisor Tom Potter, might be joining us to share his experiences, including running a franchise system for more than twenty years and surviving the 90s recession.
Although he handed the reins over last year, Tom still adds a lot of value to franchising discussions and will respond to questions openly and honestly (and often colourfully!).
There are a few other guest speakers planned throughout the course – but I have to keep some surprises!
I’m the lecturer for the Franchising Course, but as mentioned above I have a number of industry guest speakers who will also be delivering lectures.
Director of the Franchise Advisory Centre Jason Gehrke, who is also an adjunct lecturer at Griffith University, and legal academic Jenny Buchan from University of New South Wales, will also deliver a few of the lectures.
This should give students plenty of variety and a great range of perspectives.
The course, which runs for 13 weeks, consists of a two day weekend intensive, followed by 6 x 3 hour fortnightly lectures on a Tuesday evening from 6pm – 9pm held at Griffith’s South Bank Campus, Brisbane, Australia.
There are three pieces of assessment throughout the course, and (good news) no final exam!
The program is also offered completely online, so students who can’t make the lectures or two-day intensive are still able to meet all the requirements of the course.
Students are welcome to join the online classroom and participate in real time to the class discussions.
As the course is designed to be able to be studied online, all the resources, lecture notes, readings, etc are available via the web, so if you can’t make a lecture don’t stress – you can still stay on track.
If you still have questions there are a few options you can take (but again you need to act fast or you’ll miss the opportunity).
You can leave a comment below and I’ll respond, or you can Contact Us and we’ll get back to you either via email or phone (whatever you prefer).
I’ll see you in class!
